Statement on the Epstein Papers
Clarification
This clarification is intended to correct the inaccurate information that has circulated about Matthieu de Boisséson following the publication of the "Epstein Papers", and to re-establish the facts.
- No legal or media affair : Matthieu de Boisséson's name appears in the Epstein Papers, as do the names of thousands of other people, without anything to establish any link whatsoever with a legal case or to attribute to him any role in the acts alleged against Jeffrey Epstein.
- Nature of the contacts : Matthieu de Boisséson has never been Jeffrey Epstein's lawyer, legal adviser or friend. The rare occurrences of his name relate to isolated and, for the most part, indirect contacts.
- Mediation : Matthieu de Boisséson's name appears mainly in connection with the practical arrangements for an informal mediation conducted free of charge in 2015, whose compliance with the applicable rules was confirmed by the President of the Paris Bar (the Bâtonnier).
- Littleton Chambers : Following these publications, Matthieu de Boisséson was provisionally suspended as a door tenant of Littleton Chambers, before he had even been invited to provide an explanation. Matthieu de Boisséson took action to challenge this measure, and the dispute was settled by agreement, in the form of an amicable separation that satisfies both parties.
- No misconduct : No professional, disciplinary or moral fault has been found against Matthieu de Boisséson, nor even alleged by anyone.
- Support from his peers : Matthieu de Boisséson has received the full support of many members of the arbitration community worldwide.
- Integrity and independence : Matthieu de Boisséson's integrity and independence, recognised by his peers in international arbitration for more than 40 years, remain the pillars of his professional practice.
- Notice : Maître Marianne Abgrall, counsel to Matthieu de Boisséson, points out that any statement or insinuation to the contrary will expose its author to legal action before the competent courts.

"Maître Marianne Abgrall, counsel to Mr Matthieu de Boisséson, points out that the rare occurrences of her client's name in the Epstein Papers relate to contacts with Mr Epstein that were insignificant and, for the most part, indirect.
Mr Matthieu de Boisséson has never been either a friend or a lawyer of Mr Epstein.
In response to a question from a journalist, Maître Abgrall clarifies that the dispute between Mr de Boisséson and Littleton Chambers was the subject of a settlement agreement, in the form of an amicable separation.
No professional, disciplinary or moral fault has been found, or even alleged by anyone, against Mr Matthieu de Boisséson in connection with the references to his name in the Epstein Papers.
Any statement or insinuation to the contrary will expose its author to legal action before the competent courts.".
